What is true freedom? How do we live a life that is marked by true freedom and peace? Today I want us to simply SOAK in the Word, to be reminded and reassured of the foundation and source of our true freedom. Read slowly, let the truth of God’s Word soak deep into your soul and spirit!
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit —2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (HCSB)
For while we were still helpless, at the appointed moment, Christ died for the ungodly. For rarely will someone die for a just person—though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die. But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us! —Romans 5:6-8 (HCSB)
There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus! —Romans 8:1 (HCSB)
May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with joy giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light. He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son He loves. We have redemption, the forgiveness of sins, in Him. —Colossians 1:11-14
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! Together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up and seated us in the heavens, so that in the coming ages He might display the immeasurable riches of His grace through His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—not from works, so that no one can boast. For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them. —Ephesians 2:4-10
And I will live a life of freedom because I pursue Your precepts. —Psalm 119:45 (The Voice)
But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. —2 Corinthians 2:14
Spend some time reflecting on the verses from today and on the fact that God is your freedom. In Christ Jesus we have been set free from the penalty and power of sin in our lives! Give thanks to God for the victory Christ has given us and the freedom we experience each day as we live surrendered to Him! Praise Him!
It’s my prayer that through this series we will, “from the rising of the sun to its setting”, focus on and praise our amazing God! We’ll take the Word for the day and think about it, ponder it, pray it and practice it. We’ll allow it to really SOAK into our hearts and lives. And then we’ll SHINE — boast, rave, praise and celebrate God’s presence in our lives, reflecting Jesus to those around us.
