Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place. —1 Chronicles 16:27
Read through Psalm 93 below and make a list of the characteristics of who God is and what He does.
What do you learn about who God is and what He does?
How does this encourage you today?
The Lord reigns! He is robed in majesty;
The Lord is robed, enveloped in strength.
The world is firmly established;
it cannot be shaken.
Your throne has been established
from the beginning;
You are from eternity.
The floods have lifted up, Lord,
the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their pounding waves.
Greater than the roar of many waters —
the mighty breakers of the sea —
the Lord on high is majestic.
Lord, Your testimonies are completely reliable;
holiness is the beauty of Your house
for all the days to come.
—Psalm 93:1-5 (HCSB)
Praise God by praying Psalm 93 back to Him. Go verse by verse, proclaim who God is and what He does, make it personal. Pray it in light of whatever you are facing today. Pray it in light of whatever is weighing heavy on your heart today. Perhaps even consider using the ACTS prayer method to pray this psalm:
A – Adoration – Praise God for who He is. Psalm 96:4
C – Confession – Confess where you fall short and any sin He brings to mind. Be specific and give thanks that God is always faithful to forgive us in Christ Jesus. 1 John 1:9
T – Thanksgiving – Give thanks to the Lord for who He is and what He is done. Psalm 86:12
S – Supplication – Make your requests known to God, pour out your heart, share your burdens and pray for others. Philippians 4:6
Spend some time reflecting on the verses from today and on the fact that God is majestic and glorious!
It’s my prayer that through this series we will, “from the rising of the sun to its setting”, focus on and praise our amazing God! We’ll take the Word for the day and think about it, ponder it, pray it and practice it. We’ll allow it to really SOAK into our hearts and lives. And then we’ll SHINE — boast, rave, praise and celebrate God’s presence in our lives, reflecting Jesus to those around us.
