What gifts, talents and abilities has the Lord given you? Are you using them to shine brightly for Jesus and reflect His love and grace to those around you?
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. —Matthew 5:14-16
Because Jesus is the light of the world and came to redeem us from darkness and sin, we are called to live as light in a dark world. We are to be reflecting the transforming work of the gospel in our lives. We are to be shining, bright lights in a dark world pointing others to Jesus and bringing glory to God.
Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. —Philippians 2:15
Walk as children of light. —Ephesians 5:8
Spend some time reflecting on the verses from today and on the fact that God is light and because we are His children, we are called to be a light shining in the world. How does the fact that your daily walk is to be a reflection of Jesus change your attitude and actions today? Let your light shine!
It’s my prayer that through this summer series we will, “from the rising of the sun to its setting”, focus on our amazing God. We’ll take the Word for the day and think about it, ponder it, pray it and practice it. We’ll allow it to really SOAK into our hearts and lives. And then we’ll SHINE — boast, rave, praise and celebrate God’s presence in our lives, reflecting Jesus to those around us!
