A few years ago, I ran across some pieces of pottery that expressed some of the things we love as women. One piece in particular caught my attention, it read: Girls Love Chocolate. Now, ain’t that the truth!
Chocolate! It’s a delight we love to indulge in! We reach for it when we are stressed, discouraged, frustrated, overwhelmed, angry and when we are celebrating! But do you delight in your God in the same way? Do you turn to Him in trouble? Praise Him in times of celebration? Do you share your problems and frustrations with Him — trusting He has your best in mind?
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints,
for those who fear him have no lack!
Psalm 34:8 instructs us to “taste and see that the Lord is good.” This means to experience, learn, discover and enjoy. Are you experiencing and enjoying the goodness of the Lord on a daily basis? Indulge yourself and discover God in new and amazing ways.
And when we spend time delighting in the Word of God, it makes life sweeter. Our words are sweeter. Our actions are sweeter. Our attitudes are sweeter. And that sweet overflow affects those we encounter.
I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me
and let us exalt his name together!
Take some time to experience God’s goodness by delighting in His Word today! It’s sweeter than chocolate!
