Are you running on empty? Battling fatigue and exhaustion?
You don’t have to look far to find countless promises offering to help us fight fatigue and boost our energy. From vitamin supplements and exercise, to energy shots and double espresso, we all find ourselves seeking ways to boost our energy and muster enough strength and stamina to make it through the week…or day. And to be clear, I’m not suggesting that some of the above options are not valid resources for regaining strength as we battle daily fatigue. But I firmly believe there is a spiritual component that is just as important when we find ourselves worn out and weary.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. —Hebrews 12:1-2
Yes, life often feels like a race to the finish line! But this passage gives us some practical instruction and encouragement on finding the strength and energy we need. Continue reading “The Ultimate Energy Booster”
When we are in need, we can feel…
These feelings can cause us to…

When things crowd in…
When worry consumes…
When my “to do” list exceeds the hours in my day…
When relationships are strained or just a plain ole’ mess…
When the demands of life exhaust me…
When my heart is overwhelmed and my mind won’t settle down…
Lord, quiet my heart and comfort me with Your grace and peace.
When anxiety overtakes me and worries are many, Your comfort lightens my soul. —Psalm 94:19
So bow down under God’s strong hand; then when the time comes, God will lift you up. Since God cares for you, let Him carry all your burdens and worries. —1 Peter 5:6-7
Rejoicing in Him!

Today is a grumpy day…
My brain is fuzzy.
I feel stretched and pulled in too many directions at once.
I’m in need of grace. Continue reading “Grumpy Day”
A Moment —
A brief, indefinite interval of time: A point in time that is gratifying or noteworthy: Outstanding significance or value; importance.
I had a moment this week while reading My Little Book. It was just one little verse that sparked a great deal of pondering.
Now Ezra had determined in his heart to study the law of the Lord, obey it, and teach its statutes and ordinances in Israel. —Ezra 7:10
I love the heart commitment of Ezra to the Word of God demonstrated in this verse! He purposed to:
- Study it.
- Do it.
- Share it.

Awaken —my #oneword365 is so applicable to my life this year. But it was not complete. One of the words I considered for 2016 was #grace, but #awaken seemed to be what I needed. So it was the word I chose a few weeks ago. It resonated. And I love the word. But for the first time since I’ve been choosing words/themes, I’ve changed my word for the year. I believe God is calling me to explore #grace in a more in-depth way this year. How can I embrace and extend grace in greater ways this year? It is God’s grace that will awaken those things that need to be rekindled in my life. #awakenedbyGrace
The New Testament Greek charis is rendered grace.
charis —of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues.

My #oneword365 for 2016 is awaken! 2015 was a good year for our family. It was productive and full of blessing and provision. It brought new challenges and new friendships. And it brought some much-needed relief in the area of our finances after six plus years of waiting and working hard! But as I ended 2015 and headed into 2016, one word described how I felt body, soul and spirit… tired. I’m tired. I can think of several things I “want” to do in 2016 in several areas of my life, and yet I have no energy or drive to get there…or even begin. I need the Lord to awaken me! To bring back to life passions and pursuits that I have laid aside or given up on. I need him to awaken and revive me body, soul and spirit. His awakening presence will be the key!
If you’ve never used #oneword to focus and be intentional throughout the year, I’d highly recommend it. The Lord has been impressing one word or theme into my life for the last ten or so years, and it’s always been powerful and productive —always a great time of growth and experiencing His presence in new and amazing ways in my life. You can find out more here, and join with a community of people who are doing the same thing. It’s great encouragement and accountability.
