Christmas is…Day 7

Christmas is…

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. —Isaiah 9:6

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might He increases strength. —Isaiah 40:28-29

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. —Psalm 90:2

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. —Hebrews 13:8

When our world is shaky and uncertain, we can know and trust in the One who is everlasting and unchanging!

Rejoicing in Him!

Christmas Is…Day 6

Christmas is…

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. —Isaiah 9:6

Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle! Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory! Selah —Psalm 24:8-10

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your care on Him, because He cares about you. —1 Peter 5:6-7

Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. —Matthew 11:28

But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me. So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, catastrophes, persecutions, and in pressures, because of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. —2 Corinthians 12:9-10

In what area of your life today do you need to know Him as Mighty God? Fall at the feet of Jesus and find rest for your weary soul and strength to face whatever comes your way this day.

Rejoicing in Him!

Christmas Is…Day 5

Christmas is…

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor… —Isaiah 9:6

This also comes from the LORD of hosts; he is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom. —Isaiah 28:29

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. —Hebrews 4:15-16

Do you need to know Jesus today as your Wonderful Counselor? Colossians 2:3 tells us that in Christ “are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” We can trust Him as our wise and wonderful Counselor knowing He can sympathize with our weaknesses and is listening when we cry out. Pour out your heart to Him today!

Rejoicing in Him!

Christmas Is…Day 4

Christmas is…

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ” —Isaiah 9:6

“Jesus answered him…Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.” —John 14:27

“Jesus answered them…I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.” —John 16:33

What is weighing heavy on your heart and mind today? Release it to the Prince of Peace and experience His peace that surpasses all understanding. (Phil. 4:7)

His Name IS Advent Devotion: Day 18

As we continue to examine some of the prophecies on the birth, life and death of Jesus, we find rich encouragement in Isaiah 9:6. The indescribable gift of Jesus’ presence is expounded upon in this verse. Look at the first part of verse six:

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder… —Isaiah 9:6a Continue reading “His Name is Savior”

Behold! Your King is Coming

Advent….the Arrival. The season we set aside to prepare our hearts and slow our souls and spirits down. So we can…Reflect. Rest. Renew. Rejoice in our Savior, Jesus.  All the rushing and impatience of NOW! causes us to miss the joy of the moment. As Christmas approaches, let’s be intentional to stop, slow down and soak in the presence of Jesus – Immanuel, God with us. His presence renews, refreshes and enables us to rejoice in the ALL the moments of this often harried and hurried season.

Let’s commit to being intentional this season and not allow the hurried and harried NOW! attitude rob us of the joy and peace Jesus has for us in the moment. Continue reading “Behold! Your King is Coming”

His Name Is…

November has blown in and out like falling leaves in an Autumn windstorm! December is upon us. Advent….the Arrival. The season we set aside to prepare our hearts and slow our souls and spirits down. So we can…Reflect. Rest. Renew. Rejoice in our Savior, Jesus. So often the impatient spirit in me wants things NOW! And as I reflect on how quickly the month has passed, it occurs to me that all the rushing and impatience of NOW causes me to miss the joy of the moment. Somewhat ironic.
