“The Word became a human and lived among us. We saw His glory—the glory that belongs to the only Son of the Father—and He was full of grace and truth.” —John 1:14
“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed the heir of all things, through whom also He created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” —Hebrews 1:1-3
Take a moment to really ponder the riches found in these two verses. There is so much beauty, life, hope, joy, peace and love found in the words of these Scriptures! What the prophets and people of God in the Old Testament only longed for is the present reality for us.
Worship the Lord in all His radiant glory today!
Rejoicing in Him!

Christmas lights! One of my favorite things to do during this season is to drive around and look at Christmas lights. I love to sit in our family room with all the lights off except for the glow of the fire and white lights on the evergreen tree. It’s so peaceful and just makes my heart happy! Today we will examine the gift of Light.
His Name IS Advent Devotion: Day 16
Yesterday you read through and examined Isaiah 9:2-7. I love how this passage begins:
The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone. —Isaiah 9:2 Continue reading “The Gift of Light”
Thanks for joining us for the Advent study, ‘Tis the Season: Preparing Our Hearts and Homes for a Christ-Centered Christmas. If you missed the earlier post on the inspiration for this study, you can catch up here.
Our study is based on the verses found in Psalm 86:11-13:
Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name.
I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
and I will glorify your name forever.
For great is your steadfast love toward me;
you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
Each week you’ll find a section on Preparing your Heart and then tips and activities for Preparing Your Home. When I teach this study “live”, I always have ladies share ways they prepare their homes for Christmas. I’d love to hear from you! Comment and share, upload a picture or two and let’s encourage and inspire one another.
As we seek to prepare our hearts and homes in order to celebrate what’s truly important this Christmas season, let’s take time to stop, look, listen and celebrate Immanuel—God with us.
I invite you to download and print the free e-book study guide that accompanies this online discussion. Continue reading “Tis the Season: Introduction”
When I’m running on empty —weary, overwhelmed and worn— Grace is what I need.
When it seems I’ve poured out more than I have to give — Grace is what I need.
Grace — it’s such a beautiful picture of the give and take…
Easier said than done in this world that promotes and encourages attitudes of independence, self-sufficiency and “me-first”. I fall captive to these attitudes all too often. I need grace. I need to embrace grace. I need to extend grace to those around me.
Grace – “charis” Continue reading “When You’re Running on Empty…”
